These pieces are made to age. Treated properly, the print outlasts the trend that made you buy it.
Washing
- Turn the garment inside out before it goes in.
- Cold water, gentle cycle.
- Mild detergent. No bleach. No fabric softener — softener coats the fibers and dulls the print.
- Wash the first time on its own. Garment-dyed cotton releases a little color early on.
Drying
- Tumble dry low, or hang dry. Hang drying is better for the print and for the fit.
- Do not dry clean.
Ironing
- Never put an iron directly on the print.
- If the garment needs pressing, iron it inside out, or lay a cloth over the print first.
What is normal
A garment-dyed shirt fades unevenly and softens with time. That is the point of the fabric. A shirt that looks identical after two years was never worn.
